NEURA – carlos baekrä
Carlos draws almost always without a plan, simply letting the lines lead the way. He usually doesn’t know what a drawing will turn into when he starts. It has more to do with rhythm, repetition, and layering. One shape suggests another, and everything grows from there. Sometimes the result is light; other times, dense or hard to read. Faces appear and disappear. You're not sure if you’re the one looking at the drawing or if the drawing is looking back at you.
Sometimes he gets lost, sometimes he insists on certain areas without knowing exactly why. Letting go is hard. When something starts to take shape, he needs to keep going, revisit it, repeat. Drawing becomes a form of evasion — a way to stay inside something that keeps moving forward without needing to explain itself.
Carlos Baeza Kramer was born in 1994 in Melilla, Spain. After completing his studies in graphic design, he turned toward drawing and painting, moving away from the limitations of design in search of a more personal form of expression. He currently lives in Málaga, in his free time, he draws. His work embraces the instinctive, the experimental, and what appears without being fully planned. His exhibition, NEURA, presents for the first time a selection of drawings made using different techniques and mental states, gathered over the past few years in various contexts and moments. It will take place later this year in Málaga.
